Woes of public transport - crowded bus = can stick close to you?!

So this guy was standing so close that his back was touching my back... That i had to use my hand and hp to separate us and he still doesn't get the hint.

Finally i jus tapped him and said
Me: can you not stand so close to me? (Obviously i can see that there is a small space in front of him to manuevor)...
Him: (loudly) the bus is moving!
Me: yah, but can you not stand so close to me?
Him: (exclaiming loudly) the bus is moving!!!
Like he's afraid that people can't hear him...
And then proceeded to complain to the driver in Malay who jus simply laughed it off
Me: yah, but i'm already saying it very nicely liao.

Cannot take it. There is this thing called personal space and even on a crowded bus, you can still try not to intrude by NOT sticking to your fellow passengers.

And i'm a gal!! He's a guy! How can he stick so close when he kept his distance from the other gal in front of him! What kind of excuses.... Bus moving is no reason to stick so close.

I really want to move out of this area...

The culprit in green....

Baby food / not too much food

I asked for baby food, aka mashed food as i do not want to stress my jaws to much with all the chewing.

I also mentioned that my appetite is not too good so do not need to cook too much food...

This is the mum's definition of baby food and not too much food... For one person...

Faint..

Every.Single.Time...
When you ask her to cook less, it is still too much...

When will she learn?  =\

De mum still cooked chicken (which is still not that bad) and corn (horrors!) and lup cheong (this is hard! pls do a search on this to see what this is..) my poor jaw muscles.. When is it ever going to recover?.... I feel horrible... :(

Consideration - bus & bulky items

If i'm carrying such a huge board, i would probably have sat in front or not sit down at all...

But this gal sat down and proceeded to stuff it in front of her legs area, AND the space of the passenger next to her. Personal space, you know. We all have this circle of personal space around us.

Never mind that... At least, keep it there... But the board moved around cos she did not keep it secure and bumped into people. No apologies were made.

When the uncle sitting at the window seat wanted to move out, she did not even bother to stand up and out. Instead, she only moved her board away, bumping into the standing passengers as she moved it, and jus simply moved her legs. Uncle had to side-step pass her to exit.

Uncle is old.. Ah pek.. in his 60s 70s... :/. Have the courtesy to move out and apologise to people!!

What happened to common sense?
What happened to common courtesy?
What is wrong with opening your mouth to say a simple "sorry"?
What is happening to the people?

Sadness...

Chinese Medication

So the TCM prescribed me with some medication to help beef up my body system.
I feel like i'm in the middle of a wuxia show or book or something!!
I had to take like 11 pills in total and 8 of the pills are.really.round... 0.0

Doctor's visit again

Went to visit the doctor again on Wednesday.
Gonna use a combination of eastern and western medication / methods to cure myself man....

The prescription?
Anti Nausea tablets and lower acid pills to be taken once a day and once a night
And a relaxant tablet to be taken at night

The bill?
SGD$84!!
Omg!! So expensive!!!
It was S$60 for consultation alone and $24 for 30-36 pills/tablets. =/
How did the S$60 for consultation came about?

Have been feeling really pukish with dry lips and white face
Even tried to puke once but nothing came out... sigh...

My dad even went... "go see a specialist please. I will pay for it."
* touched *

Let's try everything else (and the cheaper methods) before we resort to specialist bah.

2.5 mths and ongoing....
Le Sigh...

Cold Satisfaction.....

There's a cold stab of satisfaction in knowing that you are right and the other party is wrong even though the other party will never admit it... oh well...

3 weekends, 7 staff, and it's still ongoing.
*sniggers*
And you thought I was taking a lot of time doing "it" and mark me down cos of "it" even though i was doing "it" amongst my other duties, when I had the spare time to...

Let's see when this complete and how much total time it takes in the end.

Acupuncture - soreness

ongoing pain result in desperate measures.
Thus I embarked on my first trial of Traditional Chinese Medication (TCM)

Visiting the "free" clinic set me back by....
only....
S$6.00!!!
cheap.....

A private clinic would set me back by S$60 to S$100 already.

the dr says that the area around my jaw was slightly swollen
It was more noticable when I lie down...
I have a mild case of thyroids?!?!
Cos I have got shaky hands when I hold them out straight
(But i have got shaky hands my entire life!)

All said, I am weak...
I have a problematic and weak body....
I need to slowly 'cure' it.

Guess weekly visit to the TCM is necessary.
TCM treats the root of the problem and not the symptons
It is prevalent in eastern (aka chinese) culture and have been in existence for thousands of years.
They use a myriad of treatments but most commonly herbs to make medication and very fine thin needles inserted (poked) into your acupoints.

I have got 8 needles inserted into

  1. the crevice between my thumb and forefinger of both hands (2)
  2. the crevice between the elbows of both arms (2)
  3. 1 needle behind the ear (1)
  4. 3 needles under my chin (3)

Surprisingly, there was.....
just...
only...
a little..
pain!!!
It was just a pinprick. Nothing extremely painful or what.
Just a little blood. Not serious.
There was no numbing done, no medication or whatsoever.
I was expecting it to be really painful and was really tense (which may add to the pain level)
But it was not.

And surprisingly
I feel.....
Better!!!
At least, not as sore as before. =D
Happiness!
As long as I do not need to visit a specialist! =P

Need to go visit again this week.

Heat Pads aka 暖暖包

Not sure if the chinese wordings are correct...
Brought heat pads aka 暖暖包 to work for my sore jaws
Heat pads are also good for travelling if you are going to a cold country.
Good for warming your body, feet and hands!

It looks something like this..

And there is an expiry date to it.
Expired heat pads really got a shorter lifespan and are not as warm anymore.
Sigh....

Instead of the 18hrs as stated on the packaging, I think it was lukewarm for like.... 2 hrs?
It was not even hot at all...

Guess the expiry date really works in this case.

Time to take out all my heat pads and check their expiry dates...

Time to stock up more when I go Taiwan again at the end of the year. =D

Jaws Soreness = TMD?

After wearing the acrylic night guard for 3 nights, the jaws.... are still sore... sigh..
And I still feel like puking...

The dentist mentioned that it might be a case of temporomandibular disorder (TMD).
(The acronym sounds abit like Ta Ma De 他妈的 - bad word in chinese... hahaha!! oops! =X  )

I read up on that after doing a search on Google.
Accordingly to the link, http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/guide/temporomandibular-disorders?page=2, I am supposed to
  • Keep your teeth slightly apart as often as you can to relieve pressure on the jaw. To control clenching or grinding during the day, place your tongue between your teeth.
so I did that on the MRT today.

Horrors!!
I start to drool when I fell asleep
The lucky thing is that I jerked awake when I start to drool
And manage to control the "flow of liquid"

The embarrassment...
the image!!
Omg!!

I think I will stop myself from doing this on public transport liao.

On another note, I have heat packs for my winter trips abroad cos...
  • Apply moist heat or cold packs. Apply an ice pack to the side of your face and temple area for about 10 minutes. Do a few simple stretching exercises for your jaw (as instructed by your dentist or physical therapist). After exercising, apply a warm towel or washcloth to the side of your face for about 5 minutes. Perform this routine a few times each day.
Brought one to the office. Shall try that...

And I made a call to a friend who does chinese medication (TCM)
Shall try to make a visit to her to have some acupuncture (1st time omg!) done.

Otherwise, the last resort will be to the specialist (at Raffles Hospital!! omg!! expensive!!) which I'm trying very hard to avoid. hurhur!!

Persistent Jaw Soreness and Nauseousness...

I think I know what is causing my puking on my trip the previous round.
I mean, .... even on normal days, I feel like puking.....

And no, I'm not pregnant....

I think it's because of the jaw soreness.
The soreness is not just at the jaw joint area, but spread towards the top back of the mouth such that every now and then, I feel like gagging...

My dentist, a sweet Dr Grace from Q&M, says that she has never heard of having a nauseous feeling associate with jaw soreness.
Jaw soreness is usually a result of teeth grinding at night.
While many dentists has commented that I seem to have a case of teeth grinding, friends whom I have shared room with, did not say anything about the "noise", if any, from teeth grinding, so I'm abit perplexed at that.
Also, I never had a case of jaw soreness or one as serious as this time round, lasting for months.
So I'm really not sure why it happened and how it happened.
May need to go specialist if this doesn't improve.
Sigh.......
More $$ gone...
I seem to be spending a lot on dental this year....
Jaw soreness = 3 doctor visit, 1 dentist visit = 1 night guard $550+ (gst) = possibly specialist
Crowning = about $1k + (gst) odd for my molar tooth which has cracked
Cleaning .....
sobs!

I only know this soreness occurred after my Sundown Marathon... =/
Is it whiplash? or some injury?
Why is it taking so long to recover?
I think i need an xray or mri to determine the cause of this already.

Frower - Tulip

My boss gave us all a Tulip the other day.
Yes, one tulip...
Her husband just bought it from Holland

Look at the color graduation!
So pwetty..
But alas... it was short lived.
Being a real frower....

It withered soon
Without connection to the soil
Forgotten
Unable to reproduce

Lonely tulip....
Joining its brothers and sisters...
In the trash.

Sigh...

Bintan - Diving

I've never been to Bintan before and with Tioman being crowded over the weekend (think it's because it's the last weekend before the Chinese 7th Month Festival, everyone wanna go diving before the 1 mth hiatus), it seems like a good idea to go there.

Besides, my friends are used to the hospitality of Indonesians and thought it would be great to go back and "enjoy" it again. :P

Despite the super early morning (waking up at the ungodly hour of 4.30am) to catch my fren's car and going down to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, we were all in good spirits and even enjoyed a nice little breakfast before meeting with the rest of the group travelling there as well.

There was 29 of us! with 3 DMs, and 1 instructor as there were 7 OWDs
The OWDs were going to do shore dives. The 12 other divers (look really professional with the equipments and stuff) were in 1 group and then there were the 5 of us plus 1 guy whose friends are doing the OWD.

Bintan Agro resort was nice. It surpasses the resort facilities of the Tioman's resorts that I have stayed in so far. They have 2!! swimming pools, nice breakfast spread, restaurant on kelong, pool tables (at a fee, of cos), lobby wifi access and nice beds (comparing to Tioman's resorts).

The water at Bintan is.... bad.... Low vis... about 2-5m? slight current underwater, strong current on water.
We did not even bother to bring our cameras down with us.
I think our guides were seriously pleased that they do not have to wait for us to "capture the right shot". LOL! However, I think they also ran out of places to show us cos we circled around the same area twice before finally surfacing. All rather shallow dives, about 12m, and each dive lasting about 35mins to 45mins only with lots of air left in our tanks.

Cold bottled water was presented to us after each dive.
The boatmen are helpful and will help us in rigging up or derigging if they see that we have a problem with it.
Backrolls are required although you can opt for Giant Stride entries too.

We saw a Giant Grouper, 2 Blue Spotted Stingrays, 2 Huge Puffer Fishes, trapped in the fish cages with no way of escaping. My friend tried to pull it up but couldn't.
I saw a small moray eel hiding shyly in a crevice
A nudibranch flipped over in front of us before continuing on its slow journey.
Butterfly fishes? and some small blue black long fishes, and clown fishes were seen (I'm bad with the names of fishes)

I had difficulty in equalizing (pain in my ears), as usual, and my dive com died on the first dive. Well, out of battery to be exact. So did another 2 friends cos we bought our coms about the same timing. Oops!!  Had to depend on the DM and another friend for that.

I puked after the first dive. I was already suffering from Jaw soreness for almost 2 mths and slight nauseousness. I think all these plus the strong current on water contributed to the puking.

I aborted the 2nd dive.

The next day, I tried again
And I puked...

So I aborted the 2nd dive too..

Otherwise, nice trip, nice scenery, more relaxing than Tioman, no need to carry gear bags, time to nap on the 2nd day before our departure, funny DM, and I think a good instructor for the OWDs. All in all, a good trip. However, I do not think any of us would go back to Bintan to dive again.

Cock-ups...

  1. However, some cockups such waiting a long time for plain water to be served at lunch despite us being not the last table to arrived. In fact, we were the last table to be served. Thereafter delivering our avocado drinks to another table and we had to wait 30mins to 1 hr for it to be finally delivered to our table with lots of sorry from the waitress, and the explanation that the waiter didn't know, the other table beckoned him over and he just pass the drinks over to them. But we asked them a few times for our drinks already and yet this happened?!
  2. Going back 3 times for my pancake during breakfast and having my friend being served her pancake first despite her ordering later then me, with the icing being that I was asked twice as to the ingredients I want on my pancake! They said they will deliver the pancake to me later but I rather stand and wait there then. Their service seriously pales in comparison to what I experienced in Bali and Sipadan.
  3. We asked for a shuttle service to town and were told that the drivers are all away and we have to wait an hour for a driver. =/
  4. We asked for massage service and were told that there were only 4 masseurs. The lady whom we asked to help us book, did not come back to us that the timing we wanted were unavailable.

There are other activities there which looked like FUN!
Like Kite surfing, banana boat, and another inflated boat thing.
Perhaps the next time, we can go back to try the other activities, rather than diving.

Extra food that we ate:
Durians at 30k rupiah per kg. Sweet and nice! for the lunch. But it was hard and dry for the dinner as those are fresh durians that just dropped and was not allowed time to ripen.
Cheap and delicious Otah! abit small, but really cheap. I heard it was about SGD $0.05? - SGD $0.10 per stick. We can't find it at this price anymore.
Goreng Ayam
Deep fried popiahs
Avocado drinks at 27k rupiah
Ice cream!!! - Magnums at about 24k - 26k rupiah depending on the flavour. I tried a new one Pink Pomegranate which is quite nice. Paddle pops were like less than 10k rupiah.

Saw fireworks selling at 250k to 1,200k rupiahs. Something which is banned in Singapore but you can play with it in Bintan. Perhaps can try this the next time as well.

Guess I really need to resolve the issue of my jaws before I go anywhere else... oh well.
Appointment with dentist - booked!

Sisters / Bridesmaid

So I'm asked to be a sister again
I've lost count of the number of times I've been asked.

I mean... I guess / think I could probably count if I was asked / tasked to
But I can't be bothered anymore...

I'm suddenly reminded of this film
27 Dresses starring Katherine Heig1

The story tells of Jane who has been a bridesmaid and a planner for her friends' wedding for 27 times and on one occasion, met this writer who wrote about her in his column in a paper. Click on the 27 Dresses link for more information on the show...

Well... I haven't been a sister for 27 times
I haven't needed to plan any weddings
I was never asked to or given a dress by the brides.
We usually need to source for our own or keep to a certain color or theme...
But I have been a sister for many many times...

I can empathize with this...

Currency Diff & Gifts for Little Gals

So the other day, we had a family luncheon (as usual) to celebrate one of my nieces birthday.
Asked the bro on what presents the niece would like

Clothes? - out - they have lots of clothes
soft toy? - out - they have lots of soft toys
Jigsaw puzzle? - out - they have lots of jigsaw puzzles, all kept in the storeroom as there's no place to hang

Kids... nowadays.... are so lucky....

I didn't even have a barbie doll nor played with one when I was young.
I had to ask for toys and most of the time, it was a "no"
I had hand-me-down clothes when young, from my bros... and i got no sisters...
I had new clothes during the Chinese New Year, more likely...

So anyway, their latest interest is in legos.
Which is most kids' interest recently....
Asked the bro on which ones they like
And the task fell on me to search

It's nieces, by the way, as according to the bro, it is not nice to give presents to one while the other had to wait a few more months for hers
oooook......

Took pictures at the shops
Sent to the bro for approval...
Ended up with "wait! Let me check with the gals first!"  0.0
and "what's the budget?"

There goes the surprise!
Oh well... better to get something they like rather than not, right?
So I waited...

They came up with a list
5 choices each
and their top choice....
was about or over usd100     0.0
And the choices were slightly different from what the bro said. lol!

Me to the bro
"hallo?! it's sgd100, not usd100! how did they came up with this list?!"
bro "dun know. they search for it themselves. Just go with their secondary choices then"
they are good......
usd100..... hmm......

I gave him 2 combination of choices
He came back with another one....
One $98, one $102 choice.... 0.0
Bro : "Get the $102 choice and I will pay for the $2 extra"   0.0

ok loh....

End of story....

I didn't get the $2...
The nieces are happily playing with their gifts now..

Umbrella umbrella... under the umbrella!

Raining!
Good for sleeping in!
Alas! We have to get to work....
So out comes the umbrellas, raincoats, rainboots etc.

However the umbrellas can be used for other purpose rather than just shelter from the rain.
They shelter you from the sun
They provide you with self-protection (just swing it at the other person)
They block people from you.......

They are not used to block the passage way of other passengers trying to get onto the bus!
Wetness.... =/
And the person who did it was not apologetic at all.
Lousy...

Close the umbrella before boarding the bus or simply, just run up without opening your umbrella!!
You just made all the people behind you... wet.... from the rain... just cos u did not close your umbrella in time / have difficulty closing it, and use it to block the entire entrance of the bus.... =/

And another person brought the whole umbrella, opened, onto the bus and then close it in the bus, raining droplets on the other passengers already on it.
No apologies as well..

It is not your right.
You should just apologise for inconveniencing others.
What has the world gone to!?
Sigh.....

First Dive...

The hands go clammy
IBS (irritable Bowel syndrome) started
Feeling of coldness and shivers while above or in the water
The excitement

It never really goes away...

I still feel the tenseness and excitement
I still get the shivers at times

I still need to take the anti-nausea pills

I still need time to equalize...

Overheard on the lorry ride to the site a few years ago....
"Oh! You have 15 dives? That's a lot! Where have you dive at? So experienced!"
And i was just sitting there, silently... amused even... listening to the conversation between 2 foreigners, the only Asian among the group. I was there alone... doing my dives with a foreign guide who seems more excited at seeing a lionfish than me. I started to think.. I'm doing my 30th over dives and I still feel nervous and inexperienced. You can never be that "experienced" or too "experienced" at a sport which depends on your equipment as well as nature.

The guides probably have thousands of dives under their belt....
And accidents still happen...

Never be too assured
Always take the necessary checks
Always remember your first dive
Always take precautions

Must remember to pack my anti-nausea pills for my next trip...

Pinky dot? White shirts? what?

Read this
https://sg.news.yahoo.com/thousands-of-singaporean-christians-wear-white-to-protest-pink-dot-gay-rally-143235694.html

and this
http://www.raviphilemon.net/2014/06/why-i-chose-to-wear-pink-yesterday.html

My own thots on this?
I do not understand
I do not understand why there is so much unhappiness about the inclinations of other people and what they want or do not want to do.

Everybody is entitled to their own... inclination
No matter how weird that is to others.
It's like a market
Willing buyer willing seller

You are afraid that people may be lead astrayed
You are afraid that our morals are being degraded
But isn't that what is happening already? Even without these rallies?
You might as well tell people not to watch any shows as the shows are leading our kids astray as well.
You might as well get into a cave and hole up as the world is ever changing.

I'm not against nor am I for it
I'm just thinking...

Give people the freedom of choice
Respect their decision

I wore black yesterday.....

Online shop, shopping...

I have been thinking of setting up a business for a looooooonnnnnngggg time
But discussions with friends always come up to nothing
As in..
We do not know what to sell....
Services? Products?
What services? What products?

A myraid of ideas will come in
But there is always no action on it... =/

Also, where do we get the supply? where do we get the service?

Then what about the shop name? how do we come up with a name that all of us will like?
What will reflect the shop name?

The mood came upon me yesterday and I set up something online....

Well, there's nothing in it YET
It's just.... empty.....
I must get a source first before I can put anything inside
I just did up website on wix.com and wrote the About me (by anyhow writing anything that comes into me), the Contact, FAQ and Ordering Information page.
I started a new email address on gmail

What about the name?
I was thinking whimsical... then quaint.... which eventually became quanticious
Why?
I do not know!
The name just came into my head... I guess I like it?

From Google
Quaint - meaning attractively unusual or old-fashion
From the Merriam Webster online dictionary, it means
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/quaint

Obsolete!! Definitely not the name i was looking for!!!
But in any case, I guess I was looking at something more.... unique...

And thus the name was born....
And it's not even a recognised word. =P

Is the website nice?
Much to do yet. :)

I haven't write anything yet. That post is just the default post.....

Flowers Delivery

As per our usual practice on birthdays, we will order and send each other flowers.
This year was no different.
Except that I ask for it to be delivered to her office instead of her house, and have it delivered earlier than the actual day (cos she is always on leave on her birthday)

I placed the order on Far East Flora and asked them to deliver to my friend at Ngee Ann City aka Takashimaya.

The delivery person got lost.
They called my friend to meet and collect from her.

There goes the surprise.....

I actually ordered an Add-on item, a balloon, instead of the usual plush toy cos she has a lot of plushes liao and chocs & cakes are fattening (esp when u know someone is trying to slim down).
The balloon is big! and comes with the words "You Rock!"

The feedback from her boss was... "Ëither you are a rock, or the person who sent you this is a Rocker."
Wah lao...
Can you get more demoralising or depressing?
That is so inappropriate....

Anyway, here's a pic of the flowers and the big balloon!! =D
* need to delete my friend's table stuff.... =P

After Thots:
It's a pity that they do not really encourage customisation of the the flower bouquets or packages.
Any customisation comes at a much higher price, like above S$20? for the package i checked.
If you get lost, would you not ask the sales people around? in the shops? for direction?
Or at list, check the store directory? After all, it is a unit and would be listed there. You would be able to find your current location and the location of the unit.

Silencing the phone - Whatsapp & Telegram

So I silenced some of my group chats... in both my Whatsapp and Telegram apps...

This usually happens when ....
1) you have a big group of people in the group chat
2) you have hundreds or even a thousand messages just in a span of a few hours or a few days....

I have since exited from one of the group last year when something unpleasant happened between me and one of the members (some men and their egos are scary!).
Others gradually quiet down or ended when the occasion is over.

There is one major group that I'm still a part of - THE Bar... of over 30 pax... but from the heydays of a thousand over or 2 thousand over messages in one day (if you do not check), to a tens and thirties etc today, it has sure quieted down a lot.

I'm still glad that I have it in silence mode cos if the mood comes on them, the flood (of messages) will come as well.

I'm sure that there's lots of other people who silenced some of their group chats. =)

It's not because of dislike or whatever, but just refusing to be disrupted by the constant ringing or vibration of the phone and the drain on the phone battery. =)

Continue on the messaging people!!

Fear of Commitment

OMG! the article sounds like me....
I'm the kind that tends to keep the guys i like at bay... trying hard not to show anything or to text etc.
Even if I am to text, I will take a long time before i Finally send the message...
I'm rather defensive of myself and afraid of getting hurt

Despite knowing all these, I still continue on the self-destructive path...

I know I need to change...
I seriously need to change this...

Oops!! ~ on the MRT

On a crowded train, with my colleagues...
A lady carrying her baby son who cannot be more than 2yrs old, came onboard

Me : [look around] - no seat for her arh?!
Stranger guy on seat : [softly] she dun wan to sit.....

OOPS!!
hehehhe!
At least there was a response.
LOL!

Context of story?

so someone ask me :
what do you call a long-time customer, a long friend etc.

I replied :
What is the context of the story?

Person replied :
The context doesn't matter.
You dun need to know

and then.. :
Nevermind....

hmm... that wasn't very nice, wasn't it? It was a simple question....
The "you dun need to know" isn't really very nice...

Well, a long time customer could be called a loyal customer?
But it may not be the word you are looking for.
It could be that you are writing something about good-will?
Building up a good relationship with the said customer?
A long history in working together?
Based on past relationship?

Without the context of the story or email or whatever you are writing, it is difficult to come up with the correct word or terms which you can or should use.

Perhaps it would be better to "ask for help" when you are more ready to explain what you need.

Bank Personal Loans

Banks have an additional service called moneyline or simply said, a personal loan.
They make it sound great
They call you to explain about the virtues of having one
They make you sound special
Specially selected VIPs to this special service
It was naturally assumed that you need one

And when you tell them that you are not interested or do not need the service,
some will accept it as it is while there are the irritating few that goes...
"why?! You can pay off all your credit card bills at once!"

Hallo, you will still have this moneyline or personal loan thing to pay off!
Although I believe the interest rate will be lower, but...
hallo! Not everyone needs this! Not everyone roll over their bills loh!  =/

Stop making assumptions can?
Start accepting people's answer as it is.

And there are the long drawn out ones that beat around the bush before finally telling you where they are from and what they are promoting...
We are in a fast paced economy and most of the time, I do not have time nor the patience to listen to the round the bush talk. Please go straight to the point. thxsandbye...

Sigh...

Running Sundown 10K

Have been taking part in 10k runs in marathons for some time.
My timing has been between 1:16 something (best timing) to 1:23 something (worst timing)
I have been trying to better this timing this year
Not sure if it is due to womanly problems and my headache earlier in the day, but I ended up with 1:17 for the last run.
Was feeling tired and weak pretty early in the run and was surprised.
But done is done.

This year's Sundown was better.
It still went through the dark dark park with no lights, but at least, I do not recall any staircases to go through
The grounds near the drinks area were not as wet as i expected.
Perhaps due to the fact that we were pretty much in front, there wasn't any major bottlenecks / jam!

We should attempt to start nearer to the front next time. heh!

P.s. white tee when wet is see-thru... =/
luckily, i was wearing a sports bra, but still....  =/

House

I wanna buy a house
My own
My money
But I dun have enough for down payment
With the paltry amount that I'm earning, I can't borrow much as well.

Looks like this has to be shelved for a few years....

The parents are also not supportive
Citing - difficulty in maintaining a house, repayment of loan, maintenance fee, finding tenants, etc.

Guess I just need to go about doing this my own way.

Batam Montigo

Beautiful views
Big villas
Personal dipping pool
The sun sand sea
Personalized buggy system (which also means you need to wait for the buggy to arrive)
Personal chef service (if you request for it)
In-house Balinese Massage
Free Wifi

What's there not to like?

The only upset was the small mishap at the Batam City shopping mall we had that ruined half the day for us, and the resort's inability to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs which they did not say till we asked and also that the late check-outs come with a price tag.

Otherwise, it was (supposed to be but not totally due to the above...) truly relaxing.
Check out the pics!

Welcome fruits and cakes with a small note from the manager.

Huge living room with wii and kitchenette

Huge Master bedroom with a huge bed!
All villas comes with 2 bedrooms and the other bedroom has 2 single beds.

Cute little towel elephant that I did not unravel but left it aside

View from the bedroom

Our own swimming / dipping pool with a seaside view

Perhaps they could have also tried arranging a bigger pickup van / mini-bus as the one that came was too small and squeezy for all of us.

Holiday Inn resort was previously the resort I like to stay in when I was in Batam, but this has definitely overtaken their place. However, it comes also with a hefty price tag that is at least double that of Holiday Inn.

Service: *****
Accomodation: *****
Food: *** 1/2*

Orchids

The orchids are blooming!! Simply beautiful!
Thanks to the "loving" care of the parents who put them in a shady area. :)
From almost dying to growing strongly and steadily with blooming flowers. =D

Bus queue...

You see a queue forming in front of you (behind you actually, but since you are facing us, ....)
Would you leave the area you are standing at or would you remain there?

The woman remained there till our bus came. And when asked in English, she replied.... "oh! I'm waiting for another bus!" in Mandarin.  =/

It's not a distinct set-up for a queue but it IS there every weekday morning till regular commuters know that it is a bus queue.

If there is only one or two person standing next to you, then fine....
But there is a long queue snaking 'behind' you!
Logically, you would move right?

Hiaz....
Can you not confuse people? =/
